Jim’s Words

Shopping for tomatoes

without comments

I had a date last night -
It went okay,
which means it was not as bad as a disaster,
but not as good as I hoped.

Going on dates is a little like
shopping for tomatoes;
they all start looking pretty much the same,
and all we notice are the flaws.

“Too ripe”,
“Not ripe enough”,
“Too lumpy”,
“Too little”,
“Too big”…

“Too quiet”,
“Too loud”,
“Too tall”,
“Too short”
“Too weird”,
“not weird enough”…

Some days,
it is all I can do
not to just buy a years’ supply of twinkies.
At least with twinkies,
Unlike tomatoes and evenings out,
you always know what you are getting.
