Jim’s Words

My Friend, the Bumblebee

without comments

I have heard that bumblebees
Are not supposed to fly.
Their wings too small,
Their bodies too big…
Don’t they know not to try?

But fly they do…
Without knowing that they cannot.
They raise their wings
And go up and up…
Doing what some say they ought not.

Do we really need to figure out
Whether we can
Or whether we can’t
Before we try?
That is not His Plan…

My friend the bumblebee can fly
Because he believes he can…
And all the rules
That say he can’t
Are as small as his wingspan.

If you only try when you think you can,
You will never know your wings.
Just as the race that is never run is never won,
So the greatest shame is not a tune badly voiced,
But, out of fear, the song we never sing.
